MIAMI, Florida - I'm pleased to reprint this letter of recommendation that one of our Florida customers posted on a review site. After completing appraisals, our policy is to send a memo to our clients advising them where they can review our company's products and services. Of course, this can be a double-edged sword. If there are complaints about any aspect of what we do it reflects negatively on the company. Potential customers can be swayed by bad reviews. Some of these sites like http://insiderpages.com/ or http://yelp.com/ reach millions of readers online.

"What sets the St. Lucie Appraisal Co. apart from most personal property appraisers is their thoroughness. Two weeks after our report was completed they called because an art gallery returned their call to add info on a painting that resulted in a higher value. They re-did our report and the insurance company was fine with it. Not too many professionals go out of their way to re-open cases if they don't have to but these guys did."

This was an instance where an art gallery owner contacted me with information about a painting I had been researching. A similar work of art had been sold for much more than my evaluation. Even though my customer had no way of knowing about the call, the only right thing to do was to inform them that I'd be revising my appraisal to reflect the increased value.

For the thirty extra minutes it took to update the evaluation and mail it to my customer, St. Lucie Appraisal received a great review that will be read by many people.

Word-of-mouth is the best marketing tool a business can have.
